UN official: Russia adapts to sanctions, rollover to have no effect
MOSCOW, Apr 27 (PRIME) -- The Russian economy has adapted to sanctions and their prolongation will not affect the situation in the country dramatically, Idriss Jazairy, UN human rights expert, said at a meeting with Andrei Klishas, chairman of the Federation Council’s committee for legislation, on Thursday.
“The economy is adapting to the sanctions, to the policy of the main trade partners,” Jazairy said. “New structures appear, new investments are made. They come to the stage of production. New trade models appear and they will surely require initial spending but their effectiveness will certainly rise with time.”
Jazairy also said that the main victim of the sanctions was the effectiveness of international trade rather than the targeted country.
